- BLUE RIBBON NEWS (ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 18, 2016) The City of Rockwall recognized a remarkable milestone for the Rockwall School of Music during a meeting of the city council on Monday, Oct. 17.
Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt read the following proclamation in honor of Rockwall School of Music’s 20-year anniversary serving residents of all ages in the county:
“Whereas for 20 years the Rockwall School of Music has been providing music instruction to more than 5,000 residents in Rockwall County and the surrounding communities; and
Whereas the Rockwall School of Music is the only school of music in Rockwall that provides private and small group music lessons to students of all ages in piano, guitar, voice, musical theatre, drums, bass, strings, woodwinds and brass; and
Whereas the Rockwall School of Music hires over 22 university-trained instructors annually, with multiple years of teaching experience; and
Whereas the Rockwall School of Music works closely with Rockwall ISD’s Fine Arts program to enhance their music education; and
Whereas the Rockwall School of Music brings music into the lives of more than 400 students annually while creating over 300 music-related jobs in our community for the past 20 years; and
Whereas students of the Rockwall School of Music find that the training received at RSM has prepared some for music degrees, some to become professional music instructors, many to become performers and others who have found music to be an outlet for their musical creativity.
Therefore I, Jim Pruitt, Rockwall mayor, do hereby proclaim Oct. 17, 2016 as Rockwall School of Music 20th Anniversary Celebration Day in the City of Rockwall, and encourage all citizens to applaud Rockwall School of Music’s successful implementation of being a creative musical treasure as available to all our residents, and join us in celebrating their noteworthy accomplishment in being with us for the last 20 years.”

In honor of our 20th year offering the best quality music lessons in the area, we invite you to join a small group guitar or piano class for beginners for just $20 a week for 10 weeks. That’s 10 weeks of lessons for just $200, plus a $10 book fee. Classes begin in early October and mid-January.
Classes will be 2-4 students per class. When only 2 students enroll in the class, they will receive a 30-minute weekly class along with music theory assignments. When 3-4 students enroll in the class, they will receive a 45-minute weekly class along with music theory assignments.
We hope you will join us!
A Committed Team-Atmosphere between Student, Parent, and Teacher: Making a 10-week commitment to the other students in the class is essential. Unfortunately no refunds can be given for early withdrawal from class. At the end of the 10 week session, you may opt to take advantage of our ‘Stay or Switch’ offer and continue music instruction with the same instrument or switch to a different teacher or instrument.
What’s Expected: Students are encouraged to arrive at least 5 minutes before their scheduled class time and to bring all books, assignments, and materials to each class. These small group classes work best for students who enjoy a ‘team work’ type of environment and who are committed to attending each session with a positive outlook and the anticipation of learning something new. Students who are the most successful are those who complete their weekly practice assignments and arrive each week ready to learn!*
*Students who do their best work when having the undivided attention of the instructor are encouraged to consider private lessons.
CLASSES MISSED BY STUDENTS are not refundable. Teachers are paid for their contracted time, even in a student’s absence. When possible, please inform the office in advance of any absences. Students arriving late will not have their class time extended. When possible, a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER will be provided when a teacher is absent.
Instruments: Investing in a quality instrument is an important element in a student’s success. This will make the learning process more enjoyable. If you already have an instrument, please make sure it is in good repair and in tune. Student size guitars may also be rented from the Rockwall School of Music, based on availability, for an additional $20/month.
Members of the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce, RSM staff & teachers, and other community members turned out on Thursday, Sept. 1st for a ribbon cutting event celebrating Rockwall School of Music’s 20 years of service in the Rockwall area. Guests of the 20th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting Ceremony enjoyed beautifully crafted cookies provided by EmiLou’s Cakes while reminiscing over good times shared through the years at RSM.
A very special THANK YOU to everyone who attended the event and to all of our wonderful community of supporters for giving us the opportunity to serve generations of music students with the highest caliber of music education! We are so glad to be part of this amazing community and look forward to 20 more wonderful years in Rockwall!
