RSM Summer Session is 11 weeks: June 5 – August 25, 2017
(No lessons the week of July 3 – 7)
Summer is a great time to take your musical skills to the next level or to begin fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing an instrument! Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, advanced, or college bound player, the Rockwall School of Music offers lessons for all ages and to fit most budgets.
Private Music Lessons
Private Lessons offer students one-to-one individualized instruction for 30, 45, or 60 minutes once weekly. We recommend that younger beginning students start with a 30 minute private lesson once a week. As they become older and more technically advanced, a 45 minute or 1 hour lesson may be more beneficial. Older students are invited to begin with a longer weekly lesson if they would like to move at a faster pace. A 30 minute TRIAL music lesson may be scheduled at any time during the summer for just $25.
Suggested beginning ages for Private Lessons:
Piano: 1st grade
Guitar: 2nd grade
Drums: 2nd grade
Cello, Bass and Flute: 5th grade
Voice, Clarinet, Saxophone: 6th grade.
Small Group Classes and Ensembles
Small Group Classes and Ensembles also meet weekly but in a small group of 2-4 students. These types of classes offer an interactive learning setting that fosters peer interaction and communication, which encourages teamwork. In order for children to understand their individual part in a larger ensemble, and to give students an opportunity to be inspired and encouraged by their peers in a small-group learning environment, we offer small group classes and ensembles as schedules allow.
Summer Small Group Classes:
- You & a Friend Partner Class (for beginners on any instrument)
- Sibling Partner Class (any instrument)
- Parent-Child Partner Class (any instrument)
- Orchestral Strings Ensemble
- Top 10 Classic Rock ‘n Roll Guitar Ensemble (teen and adult intermediate players)
